We offer help through a variety of options for you and your horse. Whether  working in a private lesson, a group clinic or a training situation, it is always my aim to put people at ease and treat them with respect. I strongly desire for horses and people to enjoy their time with me. If there is anyway I can help that is not listed, please get in touch and I will see what I can do.

Lessons (individual/private):

Lessons are an ideal starting place for all types of people and horses of every age and stage and are tailored to individuals needs. Lessons can be on the basis of an assessment - a 'where to from here?' If you have a new horse, or any particular problems or hopes and dreams, it is helpful to start by helping you assess your horses situation, and coming up with a plan. Many people come to us with their horses or ponies and just want some guidance as to how we can help. After the first lesson, if people want to use our services, they can decide whether they want to put the horse in training, join in on our weekend run clinics, or have regular lessons.

Lessons may be for (but not limited to):

  • Assessments
  • Foal and young horse education
  • Trailer loading
  • Stiff, unbalanced and braced horses
  • Specific horse trouble spots- leaning, canter leads, pulling, on the forehand,
  • Children and young riders
  • Rider balance and independence of seat, hands and legs, feel and timing, pressure and release.
  • Suppleness, flexibility, lateral work, self carriage and collection
  • Nervous or fearful riders
  • Behavioural issues - too numerous to list...

Clinics

Clinics are are very helpful for establishing good experiences and skills in group situations.  They are an ideal environment to have your horse be around other horses, whilst he/she learns to focus on what the rider or handler is asking. What is different to about many clinics I teach, is I am usually astride my own mare Bee - and if she is not available then I try and arrange another horse suitable to teach from!

  • $ 70 per rider (enquire regarding arena fee)
  • Usually 3-8 Riders
  •  Are usually teach astride my own horse Bee or another one suitable if she is not available!
  • 1.5- 3 hours

Usually with riders I have already worked with at least once privately,

Spectators welcome. It can be helpful to watch one before riding in it.

For those of you who did not make the Martin Black Horsemanship and Cow Working Clinic last year......fortunately.....we have snagged him to come back. He will be here for a full five day horsemanship and cow working February 25-29. He had been on my riding bucket list for many years and it is a real coup to have him here in NZ. His clinic last year was exceptional with great attention to detail and individual instruction. It is not at all discipline specific. We worked on everything from flying changes, straightness, precision, herd bound .....whatever anyone brought to the fore. There will be a morning and afternoon class limited to 12-15 participants each.

It will be held at Liberty Circle Ranch in Helensville sponsored by NZ Horsehelp. For directions etc: www.nzhorsehelp.co.nz/visiting_and_staying_at_lcr Don't miss out on this opportunity! For more info on Martin: www.martinblack.net Hope to see you there, Teresa

1/2 Day Riding Clinic

Sunday riding Clinic, Liberty Circle Ranch 222 Rimmer Road, Helensville

This class offer's people and their horses a chance to get some help and have some fun on a regular basis. These clinics are very popular and have allowed people to get some really good progress going on with their horse. This regular riding clinic addresses whatever general issues that arise that day as well as working on a whole range of excercises that improve suppleness, balance, responsiveness and collection. It gives students the opportunity to socialize their horses in a group while challenging their skill level. We emphasis calmness and confidence and enjoyment for both the horse and rider.   Drop us a line if you intend to join us... nzhorsehelp@gmail.com
